Philosophy
In order to solve global environmental, food, and energy problems and build a sustainable society, we will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by creating next-generation digital green science and technology, which based on our bioscience research with digital information technologies such as AI and IoT, and digital I/O technologies such as nanosensors, eco-devices and new materials under the philosophy of bioeconomy, and by developing human resources capable of implementing the results in society and solving the diverse issues.
Initiatives
Creation, Leadership, and Dissemination of Interdisciplinary research
We will create, lead, and disseminate to digital green science and technology as an interdisciplinary researches that combine information science, bioscience, and material science in our university.
Promotion of green/bio-economy and industry-academia collaboration
We will contribute to promote the green/bio economy and industry-academia collaboration based on the research of digital green science and technology, which will achieve SDGs. NAIST Green Economy Consortium has been established in 2022.
Strengthen human resource development
We will develop human resources who can contribute to build a sustainable society by solving environmental, food, and energy problems and to realize Society 5.0.
Organization
Division for Digital Green Innovation
Bioscience
We use digital technology to elucidate the characteristics of plants, microorganisms, etc. that can contribute to green innovation, and provide education based on the results.
Information Science
We will conduct education and research to develop information technologies such as AI, IoT, and VR/AR, which are essential for green innovation.
Material Science
We will conduct education and research to develop device and material technologies such as nanosensors and new materials essential for green innovation.
Division for Bioeconomy
We will conduct education and research in industry-academia collaboration, integrating the humanities and sciences toward establishment of a bio/green economy based on green innovation using digital technology. Social science faculty members are assigned.
Division for International Collaboration
